They (whoever they is) say that gondola rides are tourist traps, and at 80 euro (or $120!!!!) for a daytime, 40-minute ride (night is more expensive), they may have a point.
BUT. It’s 80 euro per ride, not per person. So you could split the cost amongst yourselves. And frankly, you simply HAVE to do it. Cara and I actually at one point contemplated not spending the money. We hemmed and hawed about it even that morning as we walked around. And then we rounded the corner and met Mario. And we were like, “What were we smoking?! Let’s do this!!!”
So, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Really a unique and beautiful way to see Venice. Especially when your gondolier sings as you float along.
